The goal of the Walter L. and Frieda M. Fry Amphibian Nature Preserve is to preserve natural amphibian populations in the headwater streams of the Yellow Creek System, The Rocky River System and upland areas in between. This will require preservation of the habitats in which they flourish, removing non-native invasive flora species and replanting with native deciduous trees.

An ancillary benefit will be control of storm water flowing into the Yellow Creek and avoidance of downstream flood events.

There are at least six recognizable amphibian habitats on the Fry Farm in Richfield, Ohio, and a wide variety of salamanders, frogs, toads, snakes and turtles. The spring once hosted Tamarack trees which should be reintroduced to the area. The entire habitat area is worthy of preservation for future generations and the ecological health of Summit County, Ohio.

The proposed Walter L. and Frieda M. Fry Amphibian Nature Preserve would extend the Summit Medina Conservation District northward, creating a larger, more cohesive conservation area. The proposed nature preserve is also connected to the Bath Nature Preserve via the North Fork of Yellow Creek.
